Arthur Nielsen, the managing partner of Gale & Nielsen, joined the firm in 2010 and became Jeanne Gale's partner the following year. Arthur's practice focuses on trusts and estates, business law, probate, and elder law planning. He also advises family business owners about the complex tax, governance, and inter-family issues involved in business succession.
Arthur grew up in International Falls, Minnesota, and majored in English at Columbia University. His first professional experience was in publishing, including three years in the editorial department at American Heritage magazine. He earned a law degree from Columbia Law School in 1994 and an MBA from The Anderson School at UCLA in 2000. He is licensed to practice law in California and New York.
Arthur's early legal experience was as a corporate attorney at major law firms in New York City, Minneapolis and Silicon Valley, counseling business clients in a wide variety of matters including initial formation, venture and later-stage financing, and strategic transactions.
Arthur first heard of Humboldt County on the Firesign Theatre's first album, and his fascination with this part of the world grew steadily until he settled here in 2009. He has an inordinate interest in American history, abstract expressionism, and sports -- but just the right level of interest in the ethics and comedic timing of his fifteen-year old daughter.
